Paste hex and it is decoded into text instantly inside your browser. For example, 48 65 6C 6C 6F decodes to "Hello". Any separator or prefix works (48656C, 0x48, \x48, %48), hex dumps from xxd and hexdump are read without their offsets, and UTF-8, UTF-16 and older character sets are detected automatically.
How do I convert hex to text?
Paste the hex into the left box and the text appears on the right. Each pair of hex digits is one byte, so 48 65 6C 6C 6F becomes Hello.
Which hex formats work?
Spaces, commas, colons, dashes or no separator at all, with or without 0x, \x, % or h. Escaped strings like Hello\x20World keep their ordinary characters, and U+0048 or H are read as Unicode code points.
Can I paste a hex dump?
Yes. Output from xxd, hexdump -C, hexdump, od -x and Wireshark is recognized, and the offsets on the left and the text column on the right are left out.
Why does my text show strange characters?
The bytes may use a different character set. Auto-detect tries UTF-8, then UTF-16, then Windows-1252, and you can switch to UTF-16, Latin-1 or DOS code page 437 yourself. Symbols like ␀ stand for invisible control characters.
Can I convert text back to hex?
Yes. Use Text to Hex.
