Convert ASCII to Text

auto-copied to your clipboard

Paste ASCII codes and they are decoded into plain text instantly inside your browser. For example, 72 101 108 108 111 decodes to "Hello". Decimal, hex, binary and octal codes are recognized automatically, with any separator, and extended codes from 128 to 255 are read as UTF-8 or Windows-1252.

Can I decode hex or binary ASCII codes?

Yes. Decimal, hex (48 or 0x48), binary (01001000) and octal codes are recognized automatically, or you can pick the format yourself. HTML entities like H work too.

Which separators can I use?

Spaces, commas, semicolons or new lines all work. Hex and binary can also be pasted as one long run, like 48656C6C6F.

What about codes above 127?

Extended ASCII depends on the character set. Auto-detect reads valid UTF-8 byte sequences as UTF-8 and anything else as Windows-1252, and you can switch to Latin-1, DOS code page 437 or Unicode code points.

Why do I see symbols like ␀ in the output?

Codes 0 to 31 and 127 are invisible control characters, so they are shown as symbols you can see. Untick Show control characters to get the raw characters.

Can I convert text back to ASCII codes?

Yes. Use Text to ASCII.
