Compress Image

Make JPG, PNG and WebP images smaller. Drag the quality slider and compare the result with the original before you download. PNGs stay PNG, with transparency.

JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and more. Your images never leave your device.

Need a smaller width and height too? Use Resize Image.

How do I compress an image?

Choose one or more images and they are compressed straight away. Drag the Quality slider until the preview still looks right, then download.

Will my PNG be turned into a JPG?

No. Each image keeps its format unless you pick another under Format. PNGs are made smaller by using fewer colors, so transparency is kept.

What quality should I use?

80 suits most photos. Drag the line across the preview to compare with the original, and tick Show at actual size to check fine detail.

Why is my file not any smaller?

Some images are already compressed as far as they go at that quality. The original is then kept rather than a bigger copy. Try a lower quality, or WebP.

Can I make it a specific size, like 100 KB?

Yes. Use Resize Image to 100KB, where you can also enter any other size in KB.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser, so your file never leaves your device.
